With the year coming to a close, and the majority of deductibles resetting in January, it can be easy to forget that you can save money before the end of the year by taking care of your health concerns. Below are some reasons why you should visit the American Sinus Institute.
Take advantage of reaching your deductible
Your deductible is how much you have to pay for your medical costs (excluding premiums and typically copays or coinsurance) before your plan starts paying at least some of your expenses. Deductibles can vary dramatically among health insurance options. Once you have met your plan’s deductible, you may or may not face a copay — it all depends on your plan’s out-of-pocket maximum, which may be higher. Either way, as long as the service qualifies for coverage, the cost would be less than it was before you reached your deductible.
Don’t neglect FSA balances
If you have a Health Saving Account — your contributions come with a use-it-or-lose-it provision when the year ends. Make sure you use your FSA dollars if you have money set to disappear at the end of the year. Some companies provide a grace period of up to 2.5 extra months to spend your balance on eligible costs or allow you to carry over a set amount. It might be worth finding out what your employer’s rules are.
Look into medical expense tax deduction
Did you know that there is a tax deduction for medical expenses? If you are close to qualifying and have medical procedures or services planned for the remainder of 2023, it may be worth doing this year if you know you can write off the expenses. That’s a lot of money to save.
